Message theres not quantifiable evidence that is directly applicable to the Z32 as far as I know, but when you use spacers on a car that alters the leverage that is applied to pretty much every suspension component... 99.99999999% of the time, its an incredibly minute change and wont result in anything being damaged as long as you use longer wheel studs. I was a pretty active poster on vwvortex, as well as a ford focus forum (don't ask...) a few years ago, and there were definitely occasional posts about people having many things break (studs breaking off, hubs cracking, tie rod ends breaking off) on their cars after installing spacers.

You're right about it probably not being a problem on the Z32 though. I've never heard of someone having a problem with a z32 after correctly installing wheel spacers...
